After several reboots and experimentation, we found the crashes to vary widely in frequency. We found that the controller became as stable as the Intel controller but with the tradeoff of losing USB 3. At least two are available: Can any one resolve this problem? ASMedia USB 3.0 drivers for Windows

Realistically we have been able to get up to 14 with success in the past. This one can be flashed on Windows. The time now is For the time being, we strongly recommend users do not install the latest 1.
I have already tried installing the driver given above but still same issue even with 1. Since asmedia asm1042 usb 3.0 xhci controller externally powered drives seem to be working, I think that somehow the driver is not allowing enough power to get to the ports.

Took me a few good hours, but managed to solve it in the end. I have a clean install of Windows 10 final release and everything looked fine, but when I try to write to an fontroller USB hard drive, I get write errors and then the hard drive freezes up.
I use the drivers posted and have not found any issues so far.
